The violoncello class of the Ionian University Department of Music Studies is happy to welcome from 15th till the 17th of October 2024 for a violoncello and live electronics performance seminar, Prof. Ana Topalovic (Richard Wagner Conservatory Vienna).
The visit of Prof. Ana Topalovic is supported by the Austrian Embassy in Athens in the framework of the Austrian - Greek Music Summer 2024.

We are happy to announce  that our student Christos Chatzinathanail (Athens) is accepted in the violoncello class of Prof.  José Enrique Bouché Babiloni at the Conservatorio Superior „Salvador Seguí“ de Castellón (Spain) for the academic year 2024-25, in the framework of Erasmus+ student mobility.

The violoncello student Christos Chatzinathanail will perform a violoncello recital entitled: "German Romanticism", with works by L.v. Beethoven, R. Schumann and J. Brahms.

We are happy to announce  that our student Myrsini Achalinotopoulou (Athens) is accepted in the violoncello class of Prof. Eduardo Gonzalez Lopez at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Castilla la Mancha (Spain) for the academic year 2022-23, in the framework of Erasmus+ student mobility.

After two years of compulsory cessation due to the Corona Virus, we are re-starting our class activities and re- opening our Violoncello Class to welcome renowned professors and performers. Our activities re-start coincide with the begging of the 30 years celebrations of the Ionian University Department of Music Studies establishment.
In this sense we are more than happy to welcome from Monday the 11th till Thursday the 14th of April 2002, professor Musa Eren İşkodralı (Trakya University State Conservatory, Edirne - Turkey).
During his stay prof. Musa Eren İşkodralı will deliver a violoncello seminar and a violoncello recital (Tuesday 12 of April at 19:00).

We are happy to announce that our student Spyros Kakouris (Athens) is accepted in the violoncello class of Prof. Eduardo González López at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Castilla - La Mancha (Spain) for the academic year 2019-20, in the framework of Erasmus+ student mobility.

The violoncello student Elli Ketentzian will perform as soloists together with the Corfu Old Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra: O. Respighi's "Adagio con Variazioni" for violoncello and orchestra.
The concert is a part of the final examination in Violoncello Performance.

On Thursday the 23rd of May 2019 at 21:00, the violoncello professor Dimitris Patras (University of Macedonia Department of Music Science and Art in Thessaloniki) and the pianist Mrs Marilena Liakopoulou (Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra) will perform a violoncello recital with works by: V. d’Indy, E Papastavrou, O. Respighi, G. Frescobaldi and G. Cassado.
The recital will take place at the Ionian Academy, in Corfu town.

The violoncello class of the Ionian University Department of Music Studies is happy to welcome on Wednesday the 22nd of May 2019 for a violoncello performance seminar, professor Dimitris Patras  (University of Macedonia Department of Music Science and Art in Thessaloniki).

We are proud to welcome Prof. Dr. Çağlayan Ünal Sümer (Former prof. of Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi, Devlet Konservatuvari, Izmir / Turkey) as a visiting professor for Violoncello and Chamber Music at the Ionian University Department of Music Studies.

We are happy to announce that our violoncello graduate Elli Ketentzian has been accepted as a post graduate student with full scholarship and assistantship at the Southeastern Luisiana University Department of Music and Performing Arts (USA), in the violoncello class of Prof. Daniel Cassin.
