CONCERT: "Final Chamber Music Exams of Christina Papalitsa"
On Wednesday the 3rd of June 2015, Christina Papalitsa have delivered a chamber music concert as a part of her final examination.
The program of the concert:
- L.v. Beethoven: Trio in Bb Major, Op.11,
- L. Farrenc: Trio in E minor, Op.45
- K. Emtage: "Wind of Waves"
- R. Hild: "Drei irri-tierend Stuecke fuer drei irr-dische Celli"

CONCERT: "Violoncello out of Program II"
After the successful performance of last year, the Ionian Violoncello Ensemble came back this year with the second edition of the project called: “Violoncellos out of Program II”.
The violoncello ensemble playing is used in the framework of the Curriculum as a tool in order to offer the Violoncello students an applied musicianship experience.
The repetoire performed covered a wide range of songs and orchestral works from Miles Davis, Cole Porter, Eric Clapton till Mikis Theodorakis and greek traditional music.
All the transcriptions have been made by the Ionian Violoncello Ensemble.

SEMINAR: "Playing the Jazz Cello"
Prof. Paola Zannoni (Conservatorio di Mantova, Italy)
The cello students of the Music Department of the Ionian University had the opportunity to have a first look into the jazz cello performance practice. The seminar contained basic jazz and improvisation theory and a workshop based mainly on blues and Jazz standards pieces.
Prof. Paola Zannoni's visit was held in the framwork of Erasmus+ Teaching staff exchange.

At the begining of March 2015, the Department of Music Studies had the honour to host the "Gdansk Trio" a very experienced chamber music ensemble which consists of professors of the Gdansk Music Academy (Poland). During their visit, the visiting professors have delivered seminars for Violoncello (Prof. Krzysztof Sperski), Piano (Prof. Anna Prabucka-Firlej, violin (Prof. Pawel Kuklinski) and chamber music (Prof. Krzysztof Sperski - Anna Prabucka - Firlej). The Gdansk Trio visit has been realized in the framwork of Erasmus+ teaching staff exchange.
Among the seminars, at the 04 of March 2015 we had the great opportunty to hear Gdansk Trio in a marvelus concert performance!

Summer Semester 2015
WORKSHOP: "Play the Walking Bass on Cello" Tuovinen Janne (Jazz Contrabas - Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki) During the summer semester 2015, the violoncello students of the Ionian University Department of Music Studies will have the opportunity to learn the basic principals and performance practice concerning the jazz walking bass. The workshop will be delivered by Tuovinen Janne in the framwork of Erasmus+ Internships. |
